Is L’Oreal Hyaluronic Shampoo good for hair? Detailed Review Inside (2024)

Hyaluronic Acid has been used in skincare products for decades. But it’s only been a while since it became a trendy, heavily marketed ingredient. No doubt it’s a great ingredient and I love my Hyaluronic serums too. In fact, the L’Oreal Hyaluronic Acid Serum is one of the best hydrating serums out there for making your skin plump and juicy. However, the market is saturated with too many active-based products that it can be overwhelming. Anyways, now that we are in the era of Hyaluronic Acid in hair care, L’Oreal Paris, the pioneer personal care brand, launched a new range of hair care products with the star ingredient. One such product is this L’Oreal Hyaluronic Shampoo. Named as L’Oreal Hyaluron 72H Moisture Filling Shampoo, it’s targeted toward dehydrated hair. I’ve been using the shampoo for more than 3 months and here are my thoughts on it.

Let’s see more about the L’Oreal Hyaluronic Shampoo

L’Oreal Hyaluronic Shampoo Benefits

The L’Oreal Laboratories have developed this 72HR Moisture Filling Shampoo to instantly fill up hair with long-lasting moisture for shinier, 10x more hydrated hair with no weigh down. It’s formulated with the power of Hyaluronic Acid to attract moisture into the hair and revive full lifeless hair.

L’Oreal Hyaluronic Shampoo Ingredients:

Analyzing the ingredient list, the L’Oreal Hyaluronic Shampoo is not sulfate-free. It has Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES), Silicones, and Fragrance, in addition to Hyaluronic Acid and Salicylic Acid.

As much as ingredients matter formulation matters too. So we cannot conclude its performance based on the ingredient list alone. I suggest checking for ingredient list if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. If not, go ahead and try it. Unless you try you may not know if a product suits you.

The price range is also good. It’s not very expensive and falls in mid range. The shampoo is available in 4 sizes and pricing starts at INR 199.

How to use it?

Apply the shampoo on wet hair, and massage your scalp until the shampoo lathers. Rinse well and follow it up with the Moisture Filling Conditioner.

L’Oreal Hyaluronic Shampoo Review

Packaging

Just like all drugstore shampoos, this shampoo from L’Oreal is filled up in a tall, sturdy plastic bottle that has a flip-cap opening. It’s easy to use, easy to store, and easy to travel with. I have zero complaints about the packaging. It’s basic but classic.

The entire Hyaluron Moisture Range is color-coded in light violet. It’s a pleasant color and you can easily single it out in a rack of other L’Oreal shampoos or any other shampoo for that matter. Unlike Dove where every shampoo comes in a white bottle with a barely there colored detailing – where I need to clearly look for the shampoo name before picking it up.

Color & Texture:

It’s a light violet color shampoo with the usual smooth, shiny gel texture. It has a medium consistency that’s easy to work with.

Fragrance:

It has a nice fruity fragrance that doesn’t last long after washing. It’s a synthetically added fragrance, just like most drugstore shampoos. I don’t mind it though. In fact, I don’t like fragrance-free shampoos. I like my hair to smell nice and pleasant.

My Experience:

About my hair:

To begin with, a little background on my hair. I have fine, straight virgin hair that reaches my mid-back. My scalp and hair usually become oily and limp by 3rd day of wash. I have recurrent dandruff and moderate hair fall problems, which can be usually sorted out by using an anti-dandruff shampoo.

I don’t usually expect much from a shampoo, except that it cleanses without drying out my hair or causing excessive hairfall. I’ve come to terms that shedding hair is totally normal, so I don’t worry much unless I see a big chunk of hair falling.

Application and Usage:

I usually oil my hair and deep condition it before a hair wash. So I shampoo my hair twice. I use a coin-sized amount of the shampoo and dilute it in water before massaging it onto my wet hair. It emulsifies all the oils in the first wash and in the second wash, it lathers pretty well.

If you are someone who doesn’t have oil, you wouldn’t need two washes. The shampoo lathers really well on non-oiled well and cleans the scalp and hair in one go.

Results:

This L’Oreal Shampoo cleans really well and leaves my hair soft, shiny, and smooth. The shampoo is very nourishing. In fact, it is a tad bit more nourishing for my liking, as my fine hair becomes oilier sooner than when I use other shampoos. I like my shampoos to give a nice bounce which this shampoo doesn’t. The shampoo would work more for thick, wavy, and curly hair types.

I don’t use a conditioner with it yet it makes my hair more manageable and frizz-free. It doesn’t dry out or cause tangles leading to breakage. The shampoo has no effect on hair fall or dandruff. I have my Ketoconazole Shampoo for that, which I use once in 10 days to keep dandruff at bay.

Overall this L’Oreal Hyaluronic Shampoo is what it claims. It’s meant for dehydrated hair to provide long-lasting hydration. It cleans really well without drying, intensely nourishes, and makes hair easy to manage and maintain.

Pros:

  1. Specially formulated for dehydrated hair.
  2. Contains Hyaluronic Acid.
  3. Attractive packaging.
  4. Easily available everywhere.
  5. Lathers, rinses, and cleans really well.
  6. Doesn’t dry out the hair.
  7. Leaves hair silky soft and smooth.
  8. Controls frizz and makes it manageable.
  9. Intensely nourishing.
  10. Great for thick, curly hair.

Cons:

  1. Can weigh down fine hair.

Rating: 4/5

Would I recommend it?

Yes, if you have thick, wavy, curly, frizz-prone, dry, dehydrated hair, this can become your favorite shampoo. It’s easily available, priced well, cleans well without dryness, and leaves hair soft and manageable. However I don’t think this shampoo is meant for my fine hair, so I won’t be repurchasing it again. I felt the L’Oreal Clay Shampoo worked better for my hair type.
