Founded in 1944, the Driestar Hogeschool (Driestar Christian University) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the small city of Gouda (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), South Holland. Officially recognized by the Nederlands-Vlaamse Accreditatieorganisatie (Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders), Driestar Hogeschool is a very small-sized (uniRank enrollment range: 1,000-1,999 students) coeducational Dutch higher education institution formally affiliated with the Christian-Protestant religion. Driestar Hogeschool offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor's degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation), bachelor's degrees and master's degrees in several areas of study. It includes postgraduate programs and courses that:
1) lead to doctorate degrees.
2) usually take 4 or more years to complete.
The UNESCO International Standard Classification of Education classifies these as doctorate or equivalent (ISCED Level 8) programs that are designed primarily to lead to an advanced research qualification, usually concluding with the submission and defense of a substantive dissertation of publishable quality based on original research.
